Jana Ozolina was born in Ogre, Latvia in the family of musicians. She began her musical education when she was five years old.
In 1994 she entered E. Darzina Special Music School in Riga (Latvia) in the class of Prof. Romans Shne. During the next years Jana Ozolina studied with Anita Zvaigzne, Zakhar Bron and took masterclasses with Georgy Pauk and Pierre Amoyal.
In 1998 and 1999 Jana was 1st prize winner of A. Dombrovski International Violin Competitions in Riga, Latvia. In 2001 Jana won 1st prise in “Gradus ad Parnassum” International Violin Competition in Vilnus, Lithuania. In 2004 Jana received a special prize in “Young Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition” in Kyoto, Japan. Also in year 2004 she received 1st prize in the National Violin Competition in Latvia and the Latvian State award as one of the most promising and talented violinist.
In 2006 Jana Ozolina joins the Gidon Kremer’s chamber orchestra Kremerata Baltica. She is performing in numerous concert halls all around the world, including the Carnegie hall in New York, Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
In 2008 Jana became a student of Musical Academy in Graz (Austria), where she continues her professional development with Prof. Boris Kuschnir.
Since 2010 she was a student in Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne site de Sion (Switzerland) in the class of Prof. Pavel Vernikov. In 2010 Gidon Kremer, Tatjana Grindenko, Frans Helmerson and Andras Schiff were Jana’s ensemble partners in the very prestige Kronberg Academy’s Chamber Music Connects the World project.
In 2014 Jana received her Bachelor degree and in 2016 her first Mater degree in HEMU site de Sion with Prof. Pavel Vernikov. In August 2014 together with pianist Oxana Shevchenko, the duo Ozolina- Shevchenko took 2nd Prize in the International Duo Competition in Sion, Switzerland.
In spring 2015 Jana together with violinist Sherniyaz Mussakhan creates «Young Eurasian Soloists» chamber orchestra and a string quartet in Geneva, Switzerland. Since 2016/2017, Jana is studying in Zurich Musik Academy (ZHdK) with Prof. Ilya Gringolts.
In 2018 Jana together with pianist Shih-Yu Tang won 1st Price in the Duttweiler-Hug Wettbewerb in Zurich, Switzerland. During all her career she has been invited to play in different Swiss, German and Latvian orchestras as a concertmeister. Jana is playing a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin kindly given by a privat sponsor.
